The Philippine Embassy in Nairobi reported that the MV Iceberg 1 was hijacked 10 miles outside the Aden Port.
The ship’s crew also consisted of Yemeni, Pakistani, Ghanian, Indian, and Sudanese nationals.
However, the foreign affairs department was unable to confirm the number of Filipinos onboard.
In March 23, the Philippine Embassy in Nairobi also reported the hijacking of a Bermuda-flagged cargo ship 120 miles off the Oman coast, carrying at least one Filipino.
The MV Talca also reportedly carried 23 Sri Lankans and one Syrian, the DFA quoted information from the European Union Naval Force.
